Not really sure if it would impact the symptoms you have, but it is not very expensive or difficult to do if done correctly. Check my links page for a site with full instructions on doing cap kits. I reciently picked up one that works great, all the lights are working, but cosmetically, it's pretty beat up. The only other thing that concerns me is the right side of the screen's color seems slightly faded. Do you know if that's fixable without having to get a new monitor? Hope all is well.
